| Fermentation | A way of producing energy that is different from cellular respiration |
| Cellular Respiration | The process of using sugar and oxygen molecules to produce energy |
| Chemical Energy | A form of potential energy stored in chemical bonds |
| Thermal Energy | Energy of heat |
| The Law of Conservation of Energy | When one form of energy is transformed to another, no energy is lost in the process |
| Ecosystem | All the biotic and abiotic factors in an environment |
| Delineate | To precisely describe something or to indicate boundaries |
| Biotic Factors | Things in a habitat that are living |
| Abiotic Factors | Things in a habitat that are NOT living |
| Autotroph | An organism that produces its own food using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide. They are PRODUCERS in the food chain. |
| Heterotroph | An organism that CANNOT produce its own food. These are the CONSUMERS in the food chain. |
