Science- Body Organization

tissue a group of similar cells that perform a specific function
organ a body structure that is made up of different tissues that work together
subsystem a system within a system
circulatory system body subsystem that transports oxygen, nutrients, and wastes; helps fight infection; and helps regulate body temperature
excretory system body subsystem that helps remove cell wastes
digestive system body subsystem that breaks down food, absorbs nutrients from food, and removes solid food waste
respiratory system body subsystem that brings in oxygen and removes carbon dioxide
muscular system body subsystem that moves blood; moves food; and with the skeleton, allows the body to move
nervous system body subsystem that controls the body's responses to changes inside and outside the body
