rotation the circular movement of an object around a central axis or pivot point, maintaining a constant distance from it.
day they only met a few days ago.
revolution a rapid, fundamental, and often violent transformation of a society's political, social, or economic structures.
year the time required for the Earth to orbit once around the sun.
season spring, summer, fall, and winter.
equinox the moment when the sun appears to cross the celestial equator.
solstice sun standing still.
satellite something small or less powerful that orbits around something bigger.
gravity a force that exists everywhere.
lunar anything relating to or caused by the Moon.
eclipse phases first/second contact (partial beginning), totality (full coverage), and third/fourth contact (ending)
umbra the darkest, central part of a shadow where a light source is completely blocked by an opaque object.
penumbra the partially shaded outer region of a shadow cast during an eclipse, a surrounding fringe area, or, in medical terms, salvageable tissue around an ischemic stroke core
tide the regular, cyclic rise and fall of sea levels caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and sun on Earth's oceans
the regular refers to several distinct entities, most notably a food-centric website, an indie-folk band, a clothing brand, and a common term for a loyal customer
spring tide exceptionally high-amplitude tides that occur during new and full moons, when the Earth, Sun, and Moon align
neap tide a period of moderate tides occurring twice a month, specifically during the first and third quarter moon phases.
