TermDefinition
geography The study of Earth’s land, water, people, and places.
geology The study of rocks, soil, and how the Earth changes.
geothermal Heat that comes from inside the Earth.
geode A rock that looks plain outside but has crystals inside.
geometry The study of shapes, lines, angles, and space.
thermal Related to heat.
thermometer A tool used to measure temperature (how hot or cold something is).
thermostat A device that controls the temperature in a place, like a house.
thermos A container that keeps drinks hot or cold.
telescope A tool used to see things far away, like stars and planets.
periscope A tool used to see over or around things, often used in submarines.
stethoscope A tool doctors use to listen to your heart and lungs.
microscope A tool used to see very tiny things that are too small to see with your eyes.
horoscope A prediction about your future based on the stars and your birth date.
perimeter The distance around the outside of a shape.
barometer A tool used to measure air pressure, often to predict weather.
millimeter A very small unit of length (1/1000 of a meter).
kilometer A unit of length equal to 1,000 meters, used to measure long distances.
diameter The distance across a circle through the center.
speedometer A tool in a vehicle that shows how fast it is going.
mythology The study of myths or traditional stories from a culture.
ecology The study of how living things interact with each other and their environment.
zoology The study of animals.
etymology The study of the origin and history of words.
