Deforestation the destruction and removal of forest and its undergrowth by natural or human forces .
Diffusion The spread of people, ideas, technology and products among places.
Ethnic Group A group of people who share a common culture and ancestry.
Globalization The process in which countries are increasingly linked to each other.
Humanitarian aid Assistance to people in distress.
interdependence The reliance of one country on the resources, goods, or services of another country.
Refugee When people flee to another country because of political, social or economic unrest.
Growth Domestic Product The total value of all the goods and services produced in a country in one year.
Infrastructure The set of resources, like roads and factories, that a country needs to support economic activities.
scarcity A condition of limited resources and unlimited wants by people.
Anarchy is the absence of political authority, rule, order or common purpose.
Apartheid is South Africa’s governmental policy of separation of the races.
Coup A sudden overthrow of a government by a small group of people.
Discrimination Unfair treatment of a person or group based on a variety of prejudices.
imperialism an attempt to dominate a country’s government, trade, and culture.
Initiative a petition process by which voters can put a proposed constitutional amendment on the ballot
prejudice An adverse opinion or judgment formed beforehand or without full knowledge of the facts.
Koran the holy writings of Islam.
Nirvana Buddha taught that a person could escape suffering and reach this peaceful state.
The Middle Way Buddha taught that this is the best way for Buddhists to live their lives.
