Diffraction When waves spread around an obstacle
Refraction To change a wave's speed and direction as it travels through a medium because of the density of the meduim
Transmission To pass through an object
Transparent Allowing light to pass through so that objects behind can be clearly seen
Translucent Transmitting and diffusing light so that objects beyond cannot be clearly seen
Opaque Not allowing light to pass through
Light Wave A transverse electromagnetic wave that can be transmitted, absorbed, refracted, or reflected
Matter Wave Requires a medium for matter to travel, such as water, sound, and seismic waves
Electromagnetic Wave A wave of radiation that can travel or propagate through a medium or empty space
Radio Wave An electromagnetic wave that does not require matter to propagate through
Encode To convert information into a particular form
Digital Signal A signal in which data has been translated to a series of discrete digits, like 1 and 0
Analog Signal A signal converted by continuous data often in the form of a wave
Binary Code Digital code made up of a string of only two digits 1 or 0, which is the basic input and output for computers
