TermDefinition
energy transfer When energy moves from one object to another. πŸ‘‰ Example: When you kick a soccer ball, energy moves from your foot to the ball.
equal Forces Forces that are the same size (strength) and cancel each other out. πŸ‘‰ Example: Two people pushing a box equally from opposite sides and it doesn’t move.
gravity A force that pulls objects toward each other, especially toward Earth. πŸ‘‰ Example: When you drop a pencil, gravity pulls it to the ground.
friction A force that slows things down when two surfaces rub against each other. πŸ‘‰ Example: Your bike slows down when you stop pedaling because of friction.
unequal forces Forces that are not the same strength, causing an object to move. πŸ‘‰ Example: One person pushes a box harder than another, so the box moves.
push A force that moves something away from you. πŸ‘‰ Example: Pushing a door open.
pull A force that brings something closer to you. πŸ‘‰ Example: Pulling a wagon.
balanced forces Forces that are equal and opposite, so there is no change in motion. πŸ‘‰ Example: A book sitting still on a table.
Unbalanced forces Forces that are not equal, causing a change in motion (start, stop, or change direction). πŸ‘‰ Example: Kicking a ball and making it move.
Interaction When two or more objects affect each other. πŸ‘‰ Example: A bat hitting a baseball.
Test A way to try something out to see what happens or to learn more. πŸ‘‰ Example: Testing how far different balls roll.
mass The amount of matter (stuff) in an object. πŸ‘‰ Example: A bowling ball has more mass than a tennis ball.
motion When an object changes position or moves. πŸ‘‰ Example: A car driving down the street.
contact force A force that happens when objects are touching. πŸ‘‰ Example: Pushing a chair.
non-contact force A force that can act on objects without touching them. πŸ‘‰ Example: Gravity pulling you down.
apply To use a force on something. πŸ‘‰ Example: Applying force to push a box across the floor.
