What is a physical property change? Matter that can be observed without changing.
What are examples of physical property changes? Breaking glass, Mixing candies, Melting Ice
What is a chemical property? It determines if it will react or not.
What are some examples of a chemical property? Flammability, chemical bonding
What is an element? Elements stay exactly like they are and nothing can break them or melt them
Explain how the periodic table of elements are structured. It is arranged by the atomic number of protons.
What is a chemical reaction? when you take one or more materials and scramble their building blocks to create something new.
how do we know when a chemical reaction has occurred? Precipitation, New substances, temp, heat, energy
What is the law of conservation of mass? Mass or matter cannot be created or destroyed
What models do we use to represent the law of conservation of mass? a balance between reactants and products
What is a chemical equation? A written representation of a chemical reaction
what is a subscript? a small sized number on the bottom right of the symbol that tells you how many of each element you have
What is a coefficient? A number placed in front of a chemical symbol or formula it shows how many atoms or molecules of the substance are involved in the equation
How do you know when a chemical equation is balanced? When the same number of EACH type of atom on both sides of the arow
What is a endothermic reaction? Chemical reactions in which the reactants absorb heat energy from the surroundings to form products
Give 3 examples of an endothermic reaction. A chemical reaction that involves the release of energy in the form of heat or light
what is an exothermic reaction? a chemical change that releases energy usually in the form of heat
give 3 examples of exothermic reactions photosynthesis, baking bread,, cooking an egg
