| Organism | Living thing Different types of organisms live in different types of surroundings, or environment. |
| Habitat | An environment that provides the things a specific organism needs to live, grow, and reproduce. |
| Biotic factor | The parts of a habitat that are or were once alive. |
| Abiotic factor | The nonliving parts of an organism’s habitat. |
| Population | All the members of one species living in a particular area. |
| Community | All the different population’s that live together in an area. |
| Ecosystem | Organisms that live in a particular area along with the nonliving environment. |
| Species | A species is a group of organisms that can mate with each other and and produce offspring. |
| Ecology | The study of how organisms interact with each other and with their environment. |
| Population density | The number of individuals in an area of a specific size. |
| Limiting factor | An environment factor that causes a population to stop growing or to decrease. |
| Carrying capacity | The largest population that an area can support. |
| Niche | How a organism gets it’s food and the type and what it's eats. |
| Competition | The struggle between one organisms to survive. |
| Predation | A interaction where one organism kills another for food or nutrients. |
| Symbiosis | A relationship in which two species live closely together. |
| Commensalism | Is a relationship in which one species benefits and the other species is not nor harmed. |
| Mutualism | Which is a relationship in which both species benefit. |
| Parasitism | A relationship that involves one organism living with, on, or inside of a other organism harming it. |
| Producer | An organism that can make its own food. |
| Consumer | Obtains energy by feeding on other organisms. |
| Decomposer | Break down biotic wastes and dead organism. |
| Food chain | Is a series of events in which one organism eats another and obtains energy and nutrients. |
| Food web | Consist of many overlapping food chains in an ecosystem. |
| Energy pyramid | Shows the amount of energy that moves from one feeding level to another in a food web. |
| Photosynthesis | Is the set of chemical reactions plants use to turn light, water, and nutrients into oxygen and energy, in the form of sugars. |
| Chlorophyll | Absorbs light |
| Autotroph | An organism that makes its own food. |
| Heterotroph | An organism that has to get it’s food from a source-and is unable to make its own food. |
