TermDefinition
Species A group of organisms that will have similar traits and are able to produce fertile offspring
Binomial nomenclature A naming system that gives each organism a two word scientific name
Homeostasis An organisms ability to maintain steady internal condition conditions when outside conditions change
Multicellular Living thing that is made up of two or more cells
Unicellular A living thing that is only made up of one cell
Cell The smallest unit of life
organism Something that has all the characteristics of life
Genus A group of similar species
Dichotomous Key A series of the district descriptions, arranged in pairs that lead the user to the identification of an unknown organism
Cladogram A branch diagram that shows the relationship among organisms, including common ancestors
Light microscope A microscope that uses light and lenses to enlarge an image of an object
Compound microscope A light microscope that uses more than one length to magnify an object
Electron micro scope A microscope that uses a magnetic field to focus on a beam of electrons through an object or onto an object surface
