Organism Living thing
Habitat An environment that provides the thing a specific organism needs to live, grow, and reproduce
Biotic factor Parts of a habitat that are or were once alive and that interact with an organism
Abiotic factor Are nonliving parts of an organisms habitat
Species A species is a group of organisms that can mate with each other and produce offsprings that can also mate and reproduce
Population All the members of one species living in a particular area
Ecosystem The community of organisms that lives in a particular area along with the nonliving environment makes up a ecosystem
Ecology The study of how organisms interact with each other and with environment
Community All of the different population that live together in an area make a community
Population density How many organisms in a certain area
Limiting factor A fatal disease infecting organisms
Carrying capacity The largest population that a area can support
Producer An organism that can make its own food
Consumer Gets energy by feeding on other organisms
Carnivores A organism that only eats animals.
Scavenger A carnivore that feeds on bodies of dead organisms.
Herbivore A consumer that only eats plants
Omnivore A consumer that eats plants and animals.
Decomposers A organism that breaks down biotic waste
Niche How a organism gets it’s food and the type and what it’s eats.
Competition The struggle between one organisms to survive.
Predation A interaction where one organism kills another for food or nutrients.
Symbiosis A relationship in which two species live closely together.
Commensalism Is a relationship in which one species benefits and the other species is not nor harmed
Mutualism Which is a relationship in which both species benefit.
Parasitism A relationship that involves one organism living with, on, or inside of a other organism harming it
