season A division of the year that is characterized by recurring weather conditions, and determined by both Earths tilt relative to the sun s rotation
equinox when the Sun crosses the Earth's equator, making day and night approximately equal in length (12 hours) everywhere on the planet
solstice he sun reaches its maximum or minimum declination, marked by the longest and shortest days
gravity the force that attracts a body toward the center of the earth, or toward any other physical body having mass.

tide he regular, alternating rise and fall of sea levels, typically occurring twice daily due to the gravitational pull of the moon and sun, combined with Earth's rotation
tidal range the vertical difference in height between a high tide and the succeeding low tide
spring tide exceptionally high-range tides that occur during new and full moons, when the Earth, Sun, and Moon align
neap tide A neap tide is a period of moderate, low-range tides occurring twice a month, seven days after a spring tide, when the sun and moon are at right angles (quadrature) to each other
