Organism Living thing
Habitat An environment that provides the things a specific organism needs to live, grow and reproduce
Biotic factor Parts of a habitat that are or were once alive and that interact with an organism
Abiotic factor Nonliving things
Population Members of one species living in a particular area
Community Different population that live together in a area
Ecosystem Community of organisms that lives in a particular area along nonliving things
Limiting factor A fatal disease infecting organisms
Population density The number of individuals in an area of a specific size
Carrying capacity Largest population that an area can support
Ecology Organisms that interact with each other and with their environment
Producer An organism that can make its own food
Consumer Obtain energy by feeding on other organisms
Carnivores Consumers that only eat animals
Scavenger Carnivore that feed on the bodies of dead organisms
Herbivores Consumers that only eat plants and other photo synthesis organisms
Omnivores Consumers eat both animals and plants
Decomposers Breakdown, biotic, waste, and dead organisms
Food chain A series of events in which one organism eats another and obtain energy
Food wed Consist of many overlapping, food chains, and chains in that ecosystem
Niche includes how an organism obtain its food, the type of food the organism eats, and what other organisms eat it.
Species A group of organisms that can mate with each other
Energy pyramid shows that amount of energy that moves from one feeding to another food web
Photosynthesis the set of chemical reactions used to turn light water and nutrients and oxygen and energy in a form of sugars.
Chlorophyll Absorb like much like cell and solar panels to the solar panels. Take the sense and energy to convert it to a form that unable electric devices, such as computers or refrigerators
Autotroph That makes own food
Heterotroph An organism has to get food from source and is unable to make its own food
Competition When a species share niche, one of the populations might be affected.
Predation Interaction in which one organism kills another for food or nutrients
Symbiosis any relation in which two species closely together.
Commensalism a relationship in which one species benefits, and the other species either help or harmed
Mutualism a relationship in which both species benefit
Parasitism a relationship that involves one organism living with, on, or inside another organism and harming it
