| Abiotic factors | Non living parts of a organisms habitat |
| Organism | Living thing |
| Habitat | An environment that provides the things a organism need to live, grow, and reproduce. |
| Population | Species living in a particular area |
| Species | Group of organisms that can mate with each other and produce offspring that can also mate and reproduce |
| Community | All the different populations that live an a area together |
| Ecosystem | The community of organisms that lives in a particular area, along with the nonliving environment. |
| Ecology | The study how organisms interact with each other and with their environment |
| Population density | Number of individuals in an area |
| Limiting factor | An environmental factor that causes a population to decrease |
| Carrying capacity | The largest population an area can support |
| Producer | An organism that can make its own food |
| Consumer | Obtains energy by feeding on other organisms |
| Decomposers | Break down biotic waste and dead organisms |
| Carnivores | Only eat meat |
| Herbivores | Only eat plants |
| Omnivores | Both plants and meat |
| Food chain | One organism eats another and obtains energy and nutrients |
| Food web | Consists of many overlapping food chains in an ecosystem |
| Energy pyramid | Shows the amount of energy that moves from one feeding level to another food web |
| Photosynthesis | Chemical reaction plants use to turn energy, light, water, and nutrients info oxygen and energy |
| Symbiosis | Any relationship in which 2 species live closely together |
| Commensalism | Is a relationship in which one species benefits and the other is neither helped or harmed |
| Mutualism | A relationship in which both species benefit |
| Parasitism | A relationship that involves one organism living with, on, or inside another organism and harming it |
| Chlorophyll | Absorbs light |
| Autotroph | An organism that makes its own food |
| Heterotroph | An organism that has to get food from a source and is unable to make its own food |
| Resources | Food, water, shelter, and other things for an organisms environment that it needs to live and grow and produce, |
