| Organism | Living thing |
| Habitat | An environment that provides the things a specific organism needs to live, grow , and reproduce. |
| Biotic factor | The parts of a habitat that are or were once alive |
| Abiotic factor | Non living parts of an organisms habitat. Water, oxygen, space, rocks, light, temp, and soil |
| Species | A group of organisms that can mate with each other and produce offsprings |
| Population | All the members of one species living in a area |
| Community | All the different populations that live together in an area |
| Ecosystem | The community of organisms that live in a particular area along with non living environment. |
| Ecdogy | The study of how organisms interact with each other and with their environment . |
| Population density | The number of individuals in an area of a specific size |
| Limiting factors | An environmental factor that causes a population to stop growing or to decrease in size |
| Carrying copacity | The largest population that a area can support |
| Producer | An organism that can make its own food |
| Consumer | An organism that obtains energy by feeding on other organisms |
| Carnivore | Only eats animals |
| Scavenger | A carnivore that feeds on the bodies of dead organisms |
| Herbivores | Consumers that only eat plants and other photosynthetic organisms |
| Omnivores | Consumers that eat both plants and animals |
| Decomposers | Breaks down biotic waste and dead organisms |
| Food chain | A series of event in which one organism eats another and obtains energy |
| Food web | Consists of many overlapping food chains in an ecosystem |
| Energy pyramid | Shows the amount of energy that moves from one feeding level to another |
| Photosynthesis | The set of chemical reactions plants use to turn light, water, and nutrients into oxygen and energy |
| Chlorophyll | Absorbs light |
| Autotroph | An organism that makes its own food |
| Heterotroph | An organism that has to get its food from a source |
