Habitat An environment that provides things a specific organism needs to live grow and reproduce
Biotic factor The parts of a habit that are or were once alive and that interact with an organism
Abiotic factor No living parts of an organism habitat
Population All members of one species living in a particular area are referred to as a population
Community All the different populations that love together in an area
Ecosystem Organisms that live in a particular area along with non living environments
Species Is a group of organisms that can mate with each other and produce offspring
Ecology The study of how organisms interact with each other and with their environment
Producer An organism that can make it own food
Consumer Obtains energy by feeding on other organisms
Decomposers Breach down biotic wastes and dead organisms returning the raw materials to the ecosystem
Food chain Is a series of events in which one organism eats another and obtains energy
Food wed Consist of many overlapping food chains in an ecosystem
Energy pyramid Shows the amount of energy that moves from one feeding level to another in a food web
Symbiosis Is any relationship in which two species live close together
Commensalism Is a relationship in which one species
Symbiosis Is any relationship in which two species live closely together
Commensalism Is a relationship in which one species benifits and the other species is neither helped nor harmed
Mutualism Which is a relationship in which both species benefits
Predation An interaction in which organisms kills another for food or nutrients.
Niche The organisms in any ecosystem have adaptations that help them fill specific roles or functions
Competition When two species share a niche one of their populations might be affected
Population density The number of individuals in an area of specific size
Limiting factor An environment factor that causes a population to stop growing or to decrease in size
Carrying capity The largest population that an area can surpport
Parasitism A relationship that involves one organism living with on or inside another organism and harming it.
Autotroph An orgainsim makes it own food
Heterotroph An orgainsim that has to get its food from a source and is unable to make its own food.
Chlorophyll Absorbs light
Omnivores Consumers that only eat planets
Scavenger A carnovore that feeds on the bodies of dead organisms
