| Food chain | A series of events in which one organism eats another and obtains energy and nutrients |
| Decomposer | Break down biotic waste and dead organisms, returning the raw materials to the ecosystems |
| Consumer | Obtains energy by feeding on other organisms |
| Producer | An organism that can make its own food |
| Photosynthesis | Energy in most ecosystems comes from sunlight, and producers convert this energy into food through photosynthesis , the chemical reactions plant used to return light water, and measurements into oxygen and energy and the form of sugars. |
| Chlorophyll | Absorbs light |
| Autotroph | An organism that makes its own food |
| Heterotroph | Is unable to make its own food |
