Central/Main Idea The point, message, or argument an author wants to convey about a topic
Details True confidential information
Theme The subject matter of a conversation or discussion.
Claims Assert of affirm strongly
Evidence Knowledge on which to base belief
Explanation/Reasonings Making something understandable
Tone The distinctive property of a complex sound.
Mood A characteristic state of feeling
Conflict An open clash between two opposing groups
Text Organization/Structure A complete entity made of many parts
Point of View A mental position from which things are perceived
Setting The physical position of something.
Characters A property that defines the individual nature of something
Plot The structured sequence of related events that make up a story.
Author's Intention/Purpose To persuade, inform, or entertain
Passage A specific portion, section, or excerpt taken from a larger box.
Excerpt A passage selected from a large work
Prompt According to schedule or without delay
Stanza A fixed number of lines of verse forming a unit of a poem.
Narrative Style of writing that tells a story.
Cause/Effect The principle of causation.
Chronological Order Arrangement of events in a sequence they occurred, starting with the first event to the last.
