digestive system diseases/conditions

celiac disease gluten allergy, painful, causes less nutrition (gluten intolerant, cant process gluten the same)
cholecystitis inflammation of the gallbladder (breaks down fat)
cholelithiasis presence of stones in the gallbladder from compressed fat (can get stuck) (no gallbladder - difficult digestion of fat)
cirrhosis scarring of the liver, usually due to alcohol or hepatitis (hepatitis A (HAV) - contaminated food/water usually in underdeveloped countries, hepatitis B (HBV) - blood borne, vaccine available
colon cancer cancer in colon (large intestine), treatment - cutting cancer out and putting a bag on the outside to excrete waste (on the outside)
crohn's disease autoimmune condition that causes inexplicable inflammation (any place, any time, any reason it wants) in the digestive tract, intense pain, (no medication allowed if minor)
enteritis small intestine inflammation
gastroenteritis mild stomach ache/inflammation due to things you're not used to
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) "heartburn"/pyrosis ("trap door" from your esophagus to stomach opens/closes but wears out and can allow acid through, burning your esophagus (caused by old age/wearing out, pregnancy/baby pushes on stomach, & obesity) (treatment - acid blocker)
hepatitis viral infection, blood borne B/C (c caused by sharing drug needles) (no cure)
hiatal hernia stomach ruptures though diaphragm (small - unnoticeable, big - causes GURD issues, pain, discomfort, vomiting, only fix is surgery
inguinal hernia lower, organs rupture though groin into (for example) reproductive organs or legs
intussusception when intestine folds in on itself causing an obstruction
volvulus intestines twists around itself (like a twist tie), cuts of blood supply, emergency situation
irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) autoimmune, patient switch he's from diarrhea to constipation and back no matter what they eat
peptic ulcer ulcer in stomach (erosion), caused by bacterial infection or overuse of nsaids, can make a hole in your stomach (can cause sepsis, bleeding, throwing up, pain)
periodontal disease gingivitis (gum inflammation) on steroids, end stage, gums start to recede due to bacteria growing under it, loss of teeth, need dentures
diverticulitis condition where small pockets/pouches form in digestive tract, tends to become infected & inflamed, causing pain or even sepsis
ileus obstruction in small or large intestine, causes blockage, infection, pain/cramping, emergency situation (needs to be removed surgically)
