How did Samson die (Judges 16:29)? He asked God to die with the Philistines and grasped the two middle pillars upon which the house rested and leaned on them they fell over where he died

Who is Ruth? The daughter in law of Niomi and the wife of Boaz. She said with her mother in law after her first husband's death even when she was told she could go home
What effect did Ruth's actions have on the History of the nation of Israel? Her son with Boaz was the father of Jesse and the great grandmother of King David of whose lineage Jesus is from
Who was Hannah? One of Elkanah's wife. Unable for years to have children
Why was Hannah unhappy? She was unhappy because Elkanah's other husband Peninnah would tease her every year on pilgrimage that she had no children and was not worth much
How did Hannah show her faith in God? On a pilgrimage, she went to Eli the priest and asked the lord to grant her a son who she would give to the Lord if she was blessed with him. She had Samuel and gave him to God
How did Hannah's faithfulness affect the nation of Israel? Her son became a priest, a prophet and a judge. He was a great leader of Israel who brought them back to God and was highly respected. There was peace under his rule. He anointed the first 2 kings of israel - Saul and David
How did Judith act as a woman of faith? She stood up for the Israelites; Her story helped people reflect on the meaning of yearly Passover observance; She accepted doing whatever needed to be done to project the Israelites even it it meant death and killing others
How are Judith and Moses similar? they both ended something bad that was going to happen and trusted in God.
What is an oratoreo? musical composition for voices and musical instruments which is usually sacred in nature; inspired by religious stories, although they usually include text written specifically for the piece, rather than text from the Bible or another religious book
Who was Esther? She was the cousin/adopted daughter of Mordecai; an orphan; was so beautiful became a queen in the OT
What stirred Esther's faith into action? After she saw her adopted father and read what he wrote about thinking of her Jewish faith even though it had been suppressed and her home would be killed
What did Esther do before going to the King? She told Mordecai and the other Jews to pray and fast for 3 days and then would go and perish if that was the will
Why was Esther a type of Mary? She was the intercessor of the Israelites and Mary intercedes for us with Jesus
What can we learn from the account of Esther? We can learn that we should stand up for our faith and people and to never doubt God for a moment
