Archetype A gobal symbol, character type, setting, or plot pattern in literature that shows a deep response across cultures and Eras - Noun The book is a perfect archetype of the genre.
Era A close span of time in history defined by shared intel, artistic, cultural, or social characteristics in literature - Noun His death marked the end of an era.
Movement A trend in literature where a group of authors, often within a specific time or location, share common theories, artistic styles, themes, or goals - Noun There isnt any movement in his left arm and right leg!
Historical Account A narrative or document past events, often focusing on accuracy, evidence, and/or chronological order - Noun According to the museum, the diary provides a rare historical account of daily life during the plague.
Position An author's stance or relation to the topic and audience - Noun If I were in your position, I would take the job.
Coherent A organized piece of writing where ideas, sentences, and paragraphs fit clearly to create an easily understood whole - Adj. Now that I am coherent, I can recount our morning.
Focus The main idea, theme, or topic that anchors a text, ensuring organization by directing the audience’s attention to imporatnt details - Noun "The focus of the book is to learn about sharks", the teacher said.
Connotation The emotional, cultural, or realistic meanings attached to a word beyond its definition - Noun. The work functions both by analogy and by connotation.
Curate To select, organize, and present content, items, or artistic works, often using smart knowledge to give context or a specific theme - Verb. He had became the curate of a small parish.
Text feature The part of a text that helps readers locate, understand, and organize info particularly in non-fiction. For example, indexes, page numbers, headings, illustrations, and captions - Noun A really useful text feature is a heading, so you know what it is about.
Herded Moved a group of people or animals in a particular direction - Verb. I herded a tight group of sheep.
Sharp Highly smart, perceptive, and able to understand complex situations rapidly - Adj. I was sharp with my anwsers, and got a 100% on the test.
Boarded Lived and ate at a location (often someone’s home) for payment - Verb Dogs may have to be boarded at kennels.
Drafted Involuntarily and mandatorily enlisted into military service - Verb I was drafted for WW2.
Ignorant Lacking knowledge or awareness; uneducated or unsophisticated - Adj. I was ignorant on myself, it showed about 10-12 years later.
Flung Threw with force - Verb. I flung some gum so far, it hit the other side of the recess fence!
Catapulted Launched forward with machine-like force - Verb. When the two vehicles collided, he was catapulted forwards.
Lurched Staggered; Moved unsteadily - Verb. The old train lurched forward then stopped.
Struggling Trying to do with difficultly - Verb. I knew what he was going to do and I screamed, struggling to break free.
Impairments Injury; Damage - Noun The chief executive said impairments would be more severe than expected.
Frustrated A sense of anger or enragement usually cause by bad emotions - Adj. It frustrated me that more couldn't be done for her.
