The space between the teeth and cheeks is the ORAL VESTIBULE
The area that lies within the teeth and gums is the ORAL CAVITY PROPER
On each side of the mouth at is posterior end are masses of lymphoid tissues called PALATINE TONSILS
Each lies in a concave area bounded anteriorly and posteriorly by membranes..... (2) PALATOGLOSAL ARCH PALATOPHARYNGEAL ARCH
LINGUAL TONSIL Covers the base of the tongue
TONSILITIS Inflamed tonsils
3 parts of the pharynx 1. nasophranyx 2. oropharynx 3. laryngopharynx
ESOPHAGUS Extends from the laryngopharynx through the diaphragm to the gastroesophageal sphincter in the superior part of the stomach 25 CM long
the GASTROESOPHAGEAL SPHINCTER A slight thickening of the smooth muscle layer at the asophagus somach junction Controls food passage into the stomach
the STOMACH primarily located in the upper left quadrant (ULQ) of the abdominopelvic cavity and is nearly hidden by the liver and diaphragm
What are the 2 mesenteries? What do they do 1. the GREAT OMENTUM 2. the LESSER OMENTUM connect the stomach
the greater omentum extends from the GREATER CURVATURE of the stomach
GASTRIC GLANDS of the mucosa secrete hydrochloric acid and hydrolytic enzymes
