TermDefinitionSentence
deportation n. act of expelling someone from a country. People say that deportation of people is wrong.
detention n.The act of keeping someone in custody. (ex. A political prisoner.) Vihaan recievied detention for playing video games during class.
fugitive n.A person who has escaped or is in hiding to avoid arrest. The fugitive has escaped prison
quarrels n.arguements;dissagreemets the man and women had multiple quarrels about what to eat for dinner tonight.
Gestapo n. The Nazi police or soldiers for Hitler. The Gestapo were feared by the Jews.
foreboding n. sudden feeling that something bad is gonna happen I had a foreboding that I wont get in
apprehension n. fearful feeling about what will happen next. When I was about to flip to the last page of the book I had a sudden feeling of apprehension
intution n. ability to see the truth of something without reasoning my intuition helped me survive the man's tricks.
mounting adj. increasing gradually; building up My mounting intelligence will be at Einstein level in around 2 years.
rigid adj. stiff and unbending His rigid personality made him hated.
insistent adj. demanding that something should happen The insistent guy made me so angry.
devoted adj. showing strong commitment,loyalty, or dedication I was hired because I am devoted to my job
persevering v. protecting something important so it's not lost, damaged, or forgotten. He was persevering the
resembled v.. looked very similar to someone else The man resembled Diego Jota who died in a fatal car accident.
Relic N. A treasured object kept because it has strong emotional or historical importance. I own a relic from ancient Egypt!
Humanity N. Kindness, compassion, and belief in the goodness of people. After the man saved me from the accident my faith in Humanity was restored.
Legacy n. What a person leaves behind that continues to influence others after their death. My legacy influenced the man to stop stealing.
analyze v.to look closely at the small parts of a text to see how they work together and affect the whole. He will analyze my work to make sure I haven't made any mistakes.
background information: n. the (new) information that helps a reader better contextualize and understand a specific text. The background information help me understand the setting of the book.
context: n .encompasses a text, its speakers, its audience, its purposes, and the circumstances that surround the text, including the time period, and major historical, cultural, or literary events may impact the context. The context helped me understand why the book started with a death.
Latin suffix -ent state of being: quality n. insistent- demanding that something should happen The man was insistent that I should give his money back/
Latin suffix - tion act of deportation- n. act of expelling someone from a country The deportation of the cargo will happen soon.
Latin prefix co- together context. nencompasses a text, its speakers, its audience, its purposes, and the circumstances that surround the text, including the time period, and major historical, cultural, or literary events may impact the context. The context of the man's background made people see him differently.
latin root -mit- to release: to send commit- carry out or perpetrate I will commit to my plan of world dominance.
