TermDefinition
Predator An animal that hunts and eat other animals
Prey An animal that is hunted and eaten by another animal
Predatory relationship Involves predators hunting and eating prey
Competitive relationship Involves organisms trying to obtain the same resources in an ecosystem
Symbiotic relationship Involves long-term interactions where at least one of the organisms benefits
Mutualism Two species live among one another while both benefit from the relationship. Each species provides something for the other.
Parasitism A parasite lives on or within a host organism. The parasite benefits are the host is harmed.
Commensalism To organisms live closely together. One benefits, while the other is neither harmed or helped.

Host A living organism that is harmed in a parasitic relationship
