Triangles and Angles

Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Point an exact location in a plane and in space
Ray part of a line. It has one endpoint and extends infinitely in one directions
Line collection of points extending infinitely in both directions, with no endpoints.
Line segment part of a line It has two endpoints.
Angle formed by tow rays that share a common endpoint called a vertex.
Vertex point at which two lines, line segments, or rays meet to form an angle.
Acute angle angle greater than zero degrees but less than 90 degrees
Right angle exactly 90 degrees
Obtuse angle greater than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees
Straight angle exactly 180 degrees
Complementary angle two angles that equal 90 degrees
Supplementary angle two angles that equal 180 degrees
Isosceles two equal sides
Equilateral three equal sides
Scalene no equal sides
Right Triangle has one right angle
Obtuse triangle has one obtuse angle and two acute
Acute triangle has three acute angle
