Remembering the Past

Fugitive Noun A person who has escaped or is in hiding to avoid arrest The fugitive has been hiding for almost 5 years now.
Quarrels Noun Arguments; disagreements The audience had quarrels over the argument.
Gestapo Noun Secret police force of Nazi Germany known for brutality The Gestapo came and broke down everyone's doors.
Foreboding Noun Sudden feeling that something bad is going to happen He was foreboding that the piano would fall into the ground.
Apprehension Noun Fearful feeling about what will happen next He had an apprehension everyone would get sick.
Intuition Noun Ability to see the truth of something immediately without reasoning He could find out the person was lying because of his intuition.
Mounting Adjective Increasing gradually; building up The weight of the piano was mounting on the ropes.
Rigid Adjective Stiff and unbending The climbing rope felt rigid and uncomfortable.
Insistent Adjective Demanding that something should happen He was insistent that he was going to win the competition.
Devoted Adjective Showing strong commitment, loyalty, and dedication over a long period of time He showed he was devoted to attending every conference.
Resembled Verb Looked very similar to someone else He though the person was his dad, but it a person who resembled his dad.
Relic noun A treasured object kept because it has strong emotional or historical importance The relic has no know purpose, yet she still keeps it safe.
Humanity Noun Kindness, compassion, and belife in the goodness of people The humanity of him made him highly favorited with his classmates.
Legacy Noun What a person leaves behind that continues to influence others after death The legacy of him made others want to do the same job as him.
Analyze Verb To look closely at the small parts of a text to see how they work together and effect the whole He analyzed the directions very fast, wining him the competition.
Background information Noun The (new) information that helps a reader better contextualize and understand a specific text The background information provided was not good enough.
Context Noun Encompasses a text, its speakers, its audience, its purposes, and the circumstances that surround the text, including the time period, and major historical or other events that may impact the context The context of the
Preserving Verb Protecting something important so its not lost, damaged, or forgotten He was preserving the relic's value by keeping it in a safe.
Suffix -ent State of being; quality Insistent Demanding that something should happen
Suffix -tion Act of Intuition Ability to see the truth of something immediately without reasoning
