| Heredity | Trait that is passed from one generation to the next |
| Chromosome | Made of DNA and found in nucleus. Contains the genetic information |
| Heterozygous | When two genes for a trait are different- one is dominant and the other is recessive |
| Homozygous | When two genes for a trait are the same- two dominant or two recessive |
| Dominant | Controlling trait, allele whose trait always shows up in the organisms |
| Recessive | An allele that is hidden whenever the dominant allele is present |
| Probability | a number that describes how likely it is that a particular event will occur |
| Genotype | an organism’s makeup or genes, or allele combinations |
| Phenotype | an organism physical appearance or visible traits. |
| Punnett Square | a mathematical method used to predict the genetic outcome |
| Gene | Section of a chromosome that determines a trait |
