Vocab for math

QuestionAnswer
interquartile range (IQB) the difference between the upper quartile and lower quartile
Mean the sum of a set of values divided by the number of values; often called the average
mean absolute deviation (MAD) the sum of the distances of each data point from the mean of the data set divided by the number of data points; always positive
measure of center single number that summarizes what is typical for all the values in a data set
measure of variability single number that summarizes how much the values in a data set very
median the middle number, or the halfway point between the two middle numbers, in an ordered set of values
Range the difference between the greatest value (maximum) and the least value (minimum) in a data
variability how spread out or close together values in a data set are
consistent the same or similar in different situations
Overlap parts that two things have in common
