election of 1800 Thomas Jefferson and aaron burr tie. bloodless revolution(power peacefully transfered between political parties. The tie was broken by a vote in the house of representatives. problem election of 1800 that led to 12th amendment- citizens could not vote.
Jefferson goal Reducing the power of the federal government
Louisiana purchase Napoleon(France) sold the land for only $15 million. wanted to gain control of the Mississippi river. the Mississippi river and the port of new Orleans was important for farmers to trade/transport goods. doubled the size of the US.
lewis and clark sacagawea was on the expedition(helped guide and translate for the expedition). purpose to explore new land and find a route to the Pacific ocean. accurate maps were made. explored the missouri river.
