What is the water cycle? The continuous movement of water through the environment of Earth.
What is the difference between fresh water and salt water? Fresh water is not salty, has little to no taste, color or smell and salt water contains dissolved salts and other minerals.
What are some examples of fresh water sources? pond, lake, river, stream, groundwater, spring, and rain (catchment), well, water in the atmosphere, and Lake Michigan
What are some examples of salt water sources? ocean, sea, estuary, Gulf of Mexico/America
Water that forms on the outside of a drinking glass as the outside air cools is what process? Condensation
Name the process in which water changes from a liquid to a gas. Evaporation
Name the process in which water changes from a gas back to a liquid. Condensation
What is the process of water falling to the ground from clouds that comes in many forms dependent on the temperature? Precipitation (rain, snow, sleet, hail). Precipitation
The gas form of water is called what? water vapor
Why does water vapor in the air condense into liquid droplets? Condensation occurs as the water cools in the air.
How much of Earth's surface is covered by water? 3/4 or 75%
Of Earth's water which is there more of freshwater or salt water? salt water
What type of water do humans and most land animals need in order to stay alive: fresh water or salt water? fresh water
What percentage of Earth's water is salt water? 97%
What percentage of Earth's water is fresh water? 3%
Water is unique because it can come in three different forms. What are they. Solid, Liquid, Gas
What causes water to change forms? temperature
Boiling water is an example of water in what form? gas OR water vapor
Ice is an example of water in what form? solid
A glass of water is an example of water in what form? liquid
