Understanding the weather

TermDefinition
What is Weather? Weather describes the current state of our atmosphere in a specific place.
What is Temperature? The measure of hotness or coldness expressed in terms of any of several scales, including Fahrenheit and Celsius.
What is Precipitation? Any form of water—liquid or solid—that falls from the atmosphere to the Earth's surface.
What are the different types of Precipitation? Rain (liquid) Snow (ice crystals) Sleet (frozen rain pellets) Hail (ice balls from thunderstorms).
What does it mean when the weather lists a "HIGH" and "LOW" in the forecast for the day ? The maximum and minimum temperatures expected over a 24-hour period
High Temperatures occur during what part of the day and indicates what ? Usually occurs in the afternoon and indicates the peak heat for the day.
Lower Temperatures occur during what part of the day and indicates what ? Generally occurs overnight or just before dawn and indicates the coldest point.
What are ways to check and keep with the Weather daily ? Websites (weather .com) Television Radio Smart speakers(Alexa Speaker, Google assistance, SiRi ) Mobile devices ( Weather app) Observing Physical Thermometers/Barometers
What is a Thermometer? A device used to measure temperature (how hot or cold a substance is)
What is a Barometer? A scientific instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure (the weight of the air above us) to forecast weather changes
