Medical Terminology, Abbreviations, Parts, Terms

QuestionAnswer
What does the S in the SOAP method refer to? Subjective, the patients own thoughts or feelings describing the patients own experience as well as personal and family medical history.
What does the O in the SOAP method refer to? Objective, the date collected during the examination process, objective data. The patients physical exam, laboratory results, and any imaging performed at the visit.
What does the A in the SOAP method refer to? Assessment, a logical analysis following the gathering of all necessary information, a list of potential diagnosis also known as "differential diagnosis."
What does the P in the SOAP method refer to? Plan, or course of action consistent with the assessment. The plan could include medicine/procedure, or further testing to form a more accurate diagnosis.
The abbreviation "DDX" means? Differential Diagnosis
The abbreviation "Tx" means? Treatment
The abbreviation "SOB" means? Shortness of Breath, also widely known as SOA, ( shortness of air.)
The abbreviation "IV" refers to? Intravenous
The abbreviation " PERRLA " means? Pupils are equal, round, and reactive to light and accommodation.
What department does the abbreviation "L&D" refer to? Labor and Delivery.
