Natural Resources Something on Earth that living things use to meet their needs
Ores Deposits of minerals that are large enough to be mined for a profit
Renewable Resoources Resources that can be replaced by natural processes in a relatively short amount of time
Nonrenewable Resources Natural resources that are being used up faster than they can be replaced by natural processes
Subduction Zone Areas where one tectonic plate sinks beneath another
Soil Loose weathered material in which plants grow
Porosity The amount of pore space in a material
Permeability The measure of water's ability to flow through sediment and rock
Mining Process by which commercially valuable resources are removed from Earth
Groundwater Overdraft Groundwater is being withdrawn from aquifers faster than natural recharge can replace it.
