2. List four details about an article the author read about an armed robbery and murder. Jewelry store, killed off-duty police officer Sergeant Bruce Prothero, 4 young men involved including Wes and Tony, Wes was convicted and sentenced to life
3. Why did the author contact Wes Moore in prison? What was the other Wes Moore's response? haunted by the similarities between their lives and wanted to understand what caused their paths to diverge (whyd he succeed but not the other) The other Wes Moore wrote back promptly, resulting in a series of letters and eventual prison visits.
4. Why did the author decide to write the book? What does he say about himself and the other Wes Moore? to show that "the chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his". that they are both products of their expectations, not just their environments.
5. What is the author's stated purpose in the introduction? What does the author clarify about the "only victims"? explore the fine line between success and failure in underserved communities, highlighting the importance of community support. while officer is victim, the young men who took the wrong path are victims their lack of opportunity & expectations.
