| Polis | A Greek city-state |
| Trade | An exchange or swamp |
| Import | A good or product that one nation buys from another nation |
| Export | A good or product that is sold by one country to another |
| Agora | A Greek marketplace |
| Acropolis | A hilltop fortress in ancient Greece |
| Assembly | A group of citizens in an ancient Greek democracy-had power to pass laws |
| Citizen | A person who has certain rights and duties in a city-state |
| Monarchy | A government ruled by one ( usually a king or queen ) |
| Tyranny | A government ruled by the military |
| Oligarchy | A government ruled by a rich few |
| Democracy | A government run by the people-citizens make the laws |
| Comedy | A play that is funny and usually has a happy ending |
| Tragedy | A play in which life is treated seriously and usually has a sad ending |
| Soliloquy | On talk in which thoughts and feelings are expressed |
| Marathon | 26.385 miles ( Run or walk ) |
| Philosophy | The study of nature and purpose of life "the search for truth" |
| Myth | A story that attempts to explain something in nature |
| Architecture | The science of building |
| Pelots | Conquered people forced to become slaves in Sparta |
| Cavalry | Soldiers who ride on horses |
| Triremes | Greek worships W/3 levels of rowers on each side |
| Phalanx | Greek infantry formation |
| Ostracism | The temporary banishment of a citizen by popular vote |
