abbreviations shortened forms f words, usually just letters
eponyms terms used in medicine that are named after people, places, or things
opioids substances that work in the nervous system of the body or in specific receptors in the brain to reduce the intensity of pain
prefix an affic attached to the beginning of a word
suffix an affix attached to the end of a word
transcribe put a word and/or its meaning in written form
word roots naub words or parts of words to which prefixes and suffixes can be added
