Allocate Distribute for a particular purpose
Capital Wealth in the form of money or other assets
Collective bargaining Negotiating as a group
Competition Rivalry among producers to sell products to consumers
Consumers Those who use products and services
Crown Corporation A corporation owned by the federal or provincial government
Demand The wants and needs of consumers for products and services
Economy The resources and processes involved in the production distribution and consumption of goods and services
Economics The study of the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services
Economic system How a society organizes the production and consumption of goods and services
Equilibrium A state in which opposing forces or influences are balanced
Labor Work, especially hard physical work
Labor Union An organization of workers that acts to protect workers rights and interests
Land All naturally occurring, fixed-supply resources used in production, not just physical terrain
Market Economy An economic system in which production and prices are determined by unrestricted competition between privately owned businesses
Mixed Economy An economic system that combines private enterprises with government intervention
Monopoly The excessive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service
Privately owned Part of the economy is owned and controlled by businesses and individuals
Producers People who create products and services
Public good What's best for the society as a whole
Publicly owned Part of the economy is owned and controlled by the government and paid for with taxes
Scarcity That materials, money, land, labour, and capital have a limited amount of what they have and want
Shift left A shift on the economy continuum towards more government involvement in the economy
