| Term | Definition |

| University | an institution of learning of the highest level with college with several professional schools authorized to undergraduates and graduate degrees. |
| Community College | a nonresidential junior college specifically community supported by local government funds. |
| Admissions | The office you apply to when sending in your college applications. |
| Undergraduate | a student in a university or college who didn't receive a first advanced bachorlars degree |
| Graduate | a student who has a bachorlars or the first professional degree and is studying for advanced degree. |
| Tuition | charge or fee for instruction at private school or college or university |
| credit | a unit that measures learing at accredited colleges and universities |
| major | the specific area of study you're focusing on earning your degree |
| minor | a secondary area beyond a college major |
| Bachorlars degree | a degree awarded by a college or university to a person who completed undergraduate studies. |
| Associates degree | a degree awarded by a junior or community college after completing two years of study |
| scholarship | a sum of money or other aid granted to a student because of merit, need, etc..., to persue their studies |
| grant | something granted as a privlage or right, a sum of money, or a tract of land. |
| FAFSA | The free application for federal student aid is the form you need to fill out to get any financial aid from the federal government. |
| Finacial aid | monetary support as a loan or scholarship that is used to pay for school especially higher education. |
| State University/college | a college that is financially supported by a state goverment |
| liberal arts | The academic course of instruction at a college to provide general knowledge and opposed to professional or technical subjects. |
| humanities | investigate literature, the past, culture, human values, etc... |
| Private university/college | rely more heavily on student tuition fees, alumni donations, and endowments to fund their academic programs. |
| doctorate | any of several academic degrees of the highest rank, PhD or edd, awarded by universities and some colleges for completing advanced work in graduate or professional schools. |
| pre-requisite | required beforehand: |
| registrar | register students, record grades, prepare student transcripts, evaluate academic records, asseses and collect tuition and fees |
| teaching assistant | a graduate student in a college or university who is helping a teacher to learn how to become a teacher. |
| transfer | to withdraw from one school, college, or the like, and enter another. |
| transcript | a certified record of a student throughout a course of study having full enrollment history including all courses attempted. |
| Dean | The head of a faulcalty, school, or administrative division in a university or college. |
| Room and board | room as your dorm or housing including on necessary needs. |
| Dormitory | a building at a college containing a number of private rooms for residents. |
| Semester | a division constituting half of the regular academic year, lasting 15-18 weeks. |
