| minor | secondary area beyond a college major |
| bachelor's degree | degree awarded college or university to who had completed undergraduate studies |
| associate's degree | degree or junior or community college for 2 years |
| scholarship | sum of money granted for students to keep studying |
| grant | granted as a privilege, right, sum of money, or tactic of land |
| FAFSA | form people need to fill out aid from federal government |
| financial aid | support that helps pay for school |
| state university/college | college that is payed by the state government |
| liberal arts | intended to provide gernal knowlegs of the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social studeis |
| humanites | investigates English, history, religious studies, philosophy, and art history |
| private unitverysity/college | rely heavily on student tuition and donations do fund their programs |
| doctorate | highest rank, Ph.D or Ed.D, completing advanced work in graduate school or a professional school |

| registrar | registers everything about students |
| teaching assistant | graduate student, recipient of a teaching fellowship |
| transfer | withdraw from a school, college and enter a different one |
| transcript | certified record of a student, study of having enrollment history |
| GPA | measures scholastic attainment from dividing the total number of grade points by the total number of credits or hours of course work |
| dean | head of administrative division in a university or college |
| room and board | room in a dorm or housing, like your bed, desk, heat, utilities, wifi, and meal plan |
| dormitory | building with a private or semiprivate rooms for residents with common bathroom facilities and recreation areas |
| semester | half of the regular academic year, 15 to 18 weeks |
