| Community College | Nonresidential junior college established to serve a specific community. |
| Admissions | Office you apply to when sending college applications. |
| Undergraduate | Student in a university or college who has not received a first. |
| Graduate | Student who holds the bachelor's or the first professional degree. |
| Tuition | Charge or fee for instruction, as at a college or university. |
| Credit | Unit that measures learning at accredited colleges and universities. |
| Major | Specific area of study you're focusing on. |
| Minor | Secondary area beyond a college major. |
| Bachelor's Degree | Degree awarded by a college or university to a person. |
| Associate's Degree | Degree awarded by a junior or community college after completion of two years. |
| Scholarship | Sum of money or other aid granted to a student. |
| Grant | Something granted, as a privilege or right. |
| FAFSA | Free application for federal student aid is the form you need to fill out to get financial aid, |
| Financial Aid | Monetary support, as a loan or scholarship, that is used to pay for school. |
| State University/college | College that is financially supported. |
| Liberal Arts | Academic course of instruction at a college intended to provide general knowledge. |
| Humanities | Investigate literature, the past, culture, and human values. |
| Private University/college | Rely more heavily on student tuition fees to fund their academic program. |
| Doctorate | Any of several academic degrees of the highest rank awarded by universities for completing advanced work in graduate school. |
