TermDefinition
University An institution of learning of the highest level, having a college of liberal arts and a program of graduate studies together with several professional schools, and authorized to confer both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Community College Junior college serves a specific community
Admissions the office you apply to when sending your college applications
Undergraduate a student in university or college who has not received a first
Graduate a student who holds the bachelor's or first professional and is studying for an advanced degree.
Tuition charges or fee as at private school or at a university or college
Credit measures learning accredited colleges and universities
Major specific area of study
Minor secondary area beyond college major
Bachelor's Degree degree awarded by a college or university to people that completed undergraduate study
Associate's Degree awarded by a junior or community college after completing two years of study
Scholarship money or aid granted to a student because of merit or need to pursue studies
Grant privilege or right, sum of money, tract of land
FAFSA Free Application for Federal Student Aid form to get financial aid from government
Financial Aid loan or scholarship, to pay for school, especially higher education
State University/College college that is supported financially by the state government
Liberal Arts arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences
Humanities investigate literature, past, culture, human values, english, history, religious studies, philosophy, and art history
Private University/College more heavy on tuition fees, alumni, endowments to fund their academic programs
Doctorate Ph. D or Ed. D awarded for advanced work in graduate school or professional school
Prerequisite required beforehand
Registrar register students, record grades, prepare transcripts, evaluate records, assess and collect tuition
Teaching Assistant recipient of a teaching fellowship
Transfer withdraw from one school and enter another
Transcript certified record of a students courses attempted, grades, and degrees
GPA measure of attainment computed by dividing the total number of grades points by total number of credits or hours of coursework
Dean the head of faculty, school, or administrative division in a university or college
Room and Board drom or housing and your meal plan
