Civil war vocabulary

TermDefinition
Cavalry That part of military force witch serves on horseback.
Confederacy The eleven states that seceded from the United States to form their own country.
Union The United States of America.
Yankee Common term for a union soldier.
Rebel Common term for a confederate soldier.
Infintry Group of men who travel and fight on foot.
Gettysburg Address two minute speech by President Lincoln at a ceremony dedicating the Battlefield as a National cemetery.
Emancipation proclamation issued by President Lincoln freeing all slaves.
Civil War People from the same country fighting against each other.
secede To leave the union.
