| Chemical Weathering | The breaking down of rock caused by a change in its chemical makeup. |
| Mechanical Weathering | The physical breaking of rock into smaller pieces without changing its makeup. |
| Erosion | The picking up and carrying away of weathered rock and soil by water, wind or ice. |
| Sediment | Small pieces of rock, soil, or remains of living things that have been broken down. |
| Deposition | The settling or dropping of sediment in a new location when the agenda of erosion slows down. |
| Gravity | A constant force that pulls water, ice, and sediment downward toward lower elevations. |
| Glacier | A massive sheet of moving ice that erodes the land by carving out valleys and transforms the landscape. |
| Sun | The original source of energy that allows water to evaporate and eventually fall as rain to cause weathering and erosion. |
