Wave interaction

Lesson 2

QuestionAnswer
Refllection The bending of wave as they enter a new medium at an angle caused by a change in speed
Reflection The bouncing back of an object or a wave when it hits a surface though which it cannot pass
Diffraction The bending or spreading of waves as they move around a barrier or pass through an opening
Absorption The transfer of energy from a wave to a material that it encounters
Interference The interaction between waves that meet
Standing wave A wave that appears to stand in one place even though it is two waves interfering as they pass through each other
Resonance The increase in the amplitude of a vibration that occurs when external vibrations match an object’s nature frequency
Transmitting When something has been moved through space or between mediums
