Algebraic Expression A mathematical phrase involving variables, numbers, and operations
Term Each part of an expression separated by an addition or subtraction sign
Equation A math sentence stating that two expressions are equal
Like Terms Terms that contain the same variables and the same corresponding exponents
Coefficient A number in front of a variable in an algebraic expression. It means multiplication by the constant.
Cubed Raised to the power of 3.
Squared Raised to the power of 2.
Numeric Expression A phrase that includes numbers and operations
Variable A lowercase letter that takes the place of an unknown value.
Evaluate To find the value of an algebraic expression by replacing the variable with a given value.
Commutative Property The order in which two numbers are added or multiplied does not change their sum or product
Associative Property The way in which three numbers are grouped when they are added or multiplied does not change their sum or product.
Sum The result of adding two or more numbers
Product The result of multiplying two or more numbers
Quotient The result of dividing two numbers
Difference The result of subtracting two numbers
