Genetics Unit Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
Heredity The passing of traits from parents to their offspring through genes.
Trait A specific characteristic of an organism , like eye color or height.
Genetics The study of how traits are inherited from parents to offspring.
Fertilization The process when a sperm cell and eggs cell join to form a new organism.
Purebred An organism that has two identical alleles for a triat.
Gene A segment of DNA that controls a specific trait.-
