| aloof | Remote or distant, usually by choice; showing no interest. |
| alternative | Allowing a choice between two or more things. A choice between two or more things. Any one of the things that can be chosen. |
| canine | Of, or relating to dogs, or related to animals. |
| compulsory | Required by law or a firm rule. |
| consecutive | Following one after another in order. |
| desolate | Deserted; lonely; without signs of life. Filled with sorrow. |
| dispatch | To send on specific business. To finish or complete promptly. To kill quickly. Speed in movement or performance. A written message sent quickly. |
| distinction | A recognition of the way things differ. A special honor or regard. Excellence or performance or ability. |
| endure | To put up with; to bear. To go on for a long time; to last. |
