Share Give others access to edit, comment, or view your Google Doc
New Create a blank doc
Open Retrieve a doc from Drives
Make a copy Make an exact duplicate of a Google Doc. It will say “Copy of….” in front of the copied document.
Email Allows you to send the doc as an attachment; also able to email collaborators of the doc
Download Convert your Google Doc into a compatible Microsoft Word document and Portable Document Format (PDF). A PDF cannot be edited or changed.
Version history Allows you to access previous edits and changes made to doc.
Rename Give your document a new name. To do this, click the name in the top left corner and type.
Move Move your document to a new location (folder) in your Drive.
Add shortcut to Drive If you want easy access to a file, add it as a shortcut to your Drive. It will appear on your Drive home page.
Move to trash Move a file to trash if you no longer want to use it. It will last 30 days in trash before it is permanently deleted.
Page setup Allows you to change page orientation from “portrait” to “landscape” and also margins. Margins are the amount of space at the top, bottom, left, and right of your doc.
Print Make your doc a paper copy by clicking the print command.
Undo Removes the action just done.
Redo Adds the last action that was deleted back into the document
Cut Removes the selection to be pasted somewhere else on the document
Copy Duplicated the selection to be pasted somewhere else on the document.
Select all Select all content in the document
Find and Replace Find a word or phrase in your document and replace it with another word or phrase
Paste Add the content that has been cut or copied onto your document
Image Insert an image into your doc from your computer, the web, Drive, URL, or camera.
Table A table is a grid of rows and columns that organizes complex information so that it is easy to find and understand.
Drawing Insert a new Google Drawing or a Google Drawing from your Drive.
Chart A chart is defined as a diagram that illustrates and compares data.
Special Characters Insert characters that are not numbers or letters present on your keyboard
Watermark An image faded in the background behind your text.
Header and Footer Text at the very top and very bottom of your document. Headers and Footers are placed outside of the normal typing margins
Page Number Insert a page number at the top or bottom of your page. You can also choose the position of the page number.
Page Break Allows you to stop at a selected point in a document and continue on a new page.
Link Copy a website link and attach it to a text-friendly word or phrase
Comment Adds a comment from the reader of the document
Table A table is a grid of rows and columns that organizes complex information so that it is easy to find and understand.
column A column is the information that is arranged vertically (up and down) in the table.
row A row is the information that is arranged horizontally (from left to right).
cell A cell is where a column and row cross. Here is an example of a table:
Bold darker
Italic slanted
Underline line under text
Strikethrough line through text
Superscript 1 text above baseline
Subscript 2 text below baseline
Size increase or decrease font size
Capitalization change the selected text between different types of capitalization
Paragraph Styles Borders and shading - puts a line around text and images; fills text boxes.
Align and Indent Left Center Right Justified
Line & Paragraph Spacing Single 1.15 1.5 Double
Columns Change your document to one, two, or three columns.
Numbered List numbers in front of a list
Bulleted List symbols in front of a list
Image Able to crop and replace images; along with other image options.
Clear Formatting Removes all text formatting.
Word Count counts how many words on document
Shapes shapes that you can put in your document:many different
Help Helps you find where things are in the document
zoom You can zoom in on the document up to 200%
spelling check Checks if there are any word spell wrong
increase font Makes the font bigger
Text box Can make a box to type in
Hyperlink connects different documents or websites
Margins The height of where you start on the page
Page orientation It allows you to change document to page orientation to landscape
Format Painter Formatting such as size color borders
default font the regular size is 11 size
Single Spacing where lines in texts are single space
Double Spacing When lines are double space
Word Processing save edit print in the document
Paste Without Formatting Ctrl shift V
Print & Print Preview show how many documents can be on a paper
Highlight drag the courser and highlight text
Bullets can put info in them instead of writing sentences
Numbering go to format and go to bullets and numbering
