What do the ureters do? connect the kidneys to the bladder
What does the bladder do? Relaxes and Contracts stores urine. Relaxes to fill. Contracts to empty
what does the urethra do? urine exit site

Glomerular filtration rate GFR? range? how much waste and toxins filter out each min. Normal 125mL/min but anything less then 60 mL is bad

Blood urea nitrogen BUN levels? 10-20 mg/dL
Creatinine 0.6-1.2 mg/dL
what does ADH and aldosterone hold on to? holds onto water and sodium
what does ANP and BNP get rid of? gets rid of water and sodium
what does the parathyroid hormone do? tells tubules to keep calcium
what does erythropoietin do? tells bone marrow to produce RBC
what does renin inc? inc BP
RAAS do? turns angiotensinogen in angiotensin 1 then 2. Angiotensin constricts, Aldosterone is produced
what is the diet concern for dehydration? UTI, stones, kidney failure
what is the diet concern for high dairy and protein? Stones
what is the diet concern for caffeine, alcohol, carbonated drinks, artificial sweetness, chocolate, acidic or citrus food, spicy food worsens inflammation/irritation, inc diuresis
what is a bladder scan used for? amount of urine in the bladder
what is a urine culture for? Bacteria
what is a urinalysis for? color clarity, whats in the urine
what is a CT for? visualized structures
What is a Intravenous pyelogram (IVP) for? visualize structures with dye, make sure to inc fluids after to flush out the dye then check GFR and BUN
what is the X-ray KUB for? visualize kidneys, ureters, and bladder
what is the Cystoscopy for? lighted scope with a camera to visualize bladder
what is the 24 hr urine for? analyze urine throughout the day. throw away first void then start time and collect all urine afterwards
what are the effects of aging for renal? Dec bladder size, renal blood flow r/t cardiac output, glomeruli filtration, muscle support, elasticity. Inc bladder infections and incontinence
