Light Waves

QuestionAnswer
Absorb To take in.
Amplitude The maximum height of a wave.
Emit To give off.
Energy The ability to make things move or change.
Frequency The number of peaks of a wave.
Light A type of wave that carries energy from one place to another, even though empty space.
Light Source An object that emits light.
Matter Anything that has mass and takes up space.
Molecule A group of atoms joined together in a particular way.
Rate How often or fast something happens.
Reflect To bounce off without absorbing.
Spectrum A range of wavelengths.
Transmit To pass through.
Ultraviolet A type of invisible light that is beyond violet on the spectrum.
Visualize To form a mental picture of something that cannot be seen.
Wave A pattern that describes how energy is carried from one place to another.
Waveform A curved line that shows the characteristics of a wave.
Wavelength The distance of one peak of a wave to the next.
